Summer 2019 at Blue Reef Tynemouth: What’s On?

The six-week summer holidays are prime time for making memories as a family. But to make sure they’re memorable for the right reasons, you have to keep yourselves busy with plenty of stimulating activities and days out.
For one, it’ll mean that your little ones continue to learn and develop during the big break from school. For another, it combats restlessness, which leads to crankiness and high tensions, AKA every parent’s worst nightmare.
You’ll be pleased to know that we at Blue Reef Tynemouth have thought about this quite a bit, and we want to offer a helping hand. That’s why we’ve mapped out a full summer of fascinating family fun.
Here’s what we ‘ve got scheduled…

Saturday 10th August:

Dinosaur Day

First up, you’ve got a T-Rexcellent opportunity to get up-close and personal with an awesome creature whose heyday was around 67 million years ago…
Who exactly are we talking about?
Pete the animatronic T-Rex, of course!
Due to his busy schedule, he’ll only be stopping by for one day this time round, so make sure you keep Saturday 10th August free!
If you’ve got any Jurassic Park/World fans to entertain, this one will make their whole summer. Job done.

Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th August:

Mermaid Weekend

If you’re more a mermaid family than a dinosaur family, the following weekend is the perfect time for your visit.
Sirena the Mermaid will be swimming in from the North Sea and staying with us for a couple of days.
She’s a chatty one, so you’ll hear all about her oceanic adventures and you can ask her anything you want. Wondering what it’s like having a fish’s tail instead of legs? She’ll do her best to describe it! Wondering how she keeps her skin looking so fresh despite all that saltwater? She might share her moisturising routine with you.
We’re not sure when the next time she’ll visit is (you know how these mermaids can be, just going with the flow), so be sure to swing (or should that be “swimg”…) by on the weekend of the 17th and 18th!

Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th August:

Disney on Ice Weekend

You may already know that Disney on Ice (100 Years of Magic) will be visiting the Toon at the start of October…
Not got tickets yet? Well, come and visit Blue Reef Tynemouth on 25th or 26th August for your chance to win VIP passes for you and your family!
Every child who comes in Disney-themed fancy dress will enter the aquarium for FREE, offering you a great-value day out as well as the chance to win big! (Each child must be accompanied by a paying adult.*)
Time to fish out those costumes, so to speak!
*Not available with online tickets. 1 free child per paying adult.

Saturday 31st August & Sunday 1st September:

Fossil Hunters Weekend

Your little ones have probably learned quite a bit of history over the last school year.
Now it’s time for some PRE-history!
Our Discovery Zone will be transformed into an archaeological excavation for the whole weekend, filled with genuine dinosaur fossils and shark teeth that are waiting to be unearthed.
Think you’re up to the task? We think you’ll be a roaring success.
